‘Zoolander 2’ Shatters Comedy Record for Most Trailer Views in a Week

Ben Stiller sequel scores 52.2 million views after Nov. 18 debut, toppling “Dumb and Dumber To”

The “Zoolander 2” trailer has gotten a really, really, ridiculously good number of online looks.

The Paramount Pictures movie has broken the record as the most successful comedy trailer launch of all time. The trailer, which debuted online on Nov. 18, reached 52.2 million views in its first week of release. Watch the trailer here.

The follow-up to 2001’s “Zoolander” topped previous record holder — and fellow many-years-later sequel — “Dumb and Dumber To,” which had 49 million views in one week.

“Zoolander 2” is directed by Ben Stiller and stars Stiller, Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell, Penélope Cruz, Kristen Wiig, Fred Armisen, Milla Jovovich, Christine Taylor, Justin Theroux and Kyle Mooney. The film is written by Justin Theroux & Ben Stiller and Nick Stoller and John Hamburg.

Stiller, Stuart Cornfeld, Scott Rudin and Clayton Townsend are producers. Jeff Mann is executive producer.

“Zoolander 2″opens nationwide on Feb. 12, 2016.
