“Zombieland” and “30 Minutes or Less” director Ruben Fleischer has inked a two-year deal with Universal Television.
Under the pact, Fleischer will develop new programming, or supervise other writers for projects on which he’ll serve as an executive producer. Additionally, Fleischer will occasionally direct under the deal.
In addition, Fleischer has launched his own production company called The District. David Bernad, formerly of RipCord Productionsl, will serve as Fleischer’s producing partner.

“Ruben is wildly creative and his work successfully spans comedy and drama,” said Universal Television’s Bela Bajaria. “His talent and enthusiasm will be a welcome addition to our strong team of creators at Universal Television.”
Fleischer’s television work thus far includes producing MTV’s Rob Dyrdek reality franchise, including “Rob and Big” and “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory.” He has also shot several “Funny or Die” sketches.
He also has directed the films “Zombieland” and “30 Minutes or Less.”
UTA and attorney Warren Dern of Sloan Offer Webber Dern represent Fleischer.
