Police have arrested a suspect in Tuesday’s shooting of rapper Young Dolph.
Corey McClendon, 43, was arrested for attempted murder on Wednesday, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department told TheWrap.
McClendon was detained in the area of Hollywood Blvd. and Franklin Ave. on Tuesday, the police spokesman said. McClendon is a resident of Memphis, Tennessee, as does Dolph (real name: Adolph Thornton Jr.)
McClendon’s bail has been set at $1 million.
According to USA Today, McClendon is an associate of rapper Yo Gotti, who was mistakenly reported to be a person of interest in the case Tuesday.
Young Dolph was shot near the intersection of Hollywood Blvd. and Highland Ave., a major intersection popular with tourists that is close to landmarks like the TCL Chinese Theater and El Capitan Theater.
The rapper, 32, was hospitalized in stable condition after being shot in the valet parking area of Loews Hollywood Hotel, KTLA reported Tuesday.
A spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department would not confirm the identity of the shooting victim to TheWrap, but said the shooting took place at approximately 1:12 p.m. on Tuesday. There was only one victim.
