Oh, “You.” Netflix‘s addictive thriller series is back and, in true Joe Goldberg tradition, Penn Badgley’s killer is again traveling to a new destination on the run from his murderous past. Season 4 finds him as an ex-pat in London, hiding behind his new identity as professor Jonathan Moore. And once again, he’s rubbing elbows with the wealthy and elite — and elitist — all of whom are being targeted by the mysterious “Eat the Rich” killer.
That means there’s a whole new batch of friends, foes and potential deadly obsessions for Joe to navigate this season, as well as an almost entirely new cast for Season 4. So if you’re wondering who plays whom, or where you’ve seen them before, here’s a handy guide.
Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg, aka Jonathan Moore
Penn Badgley returns as star and narrator of “You,” Joe Goldberg — or Jonathan Moore, as he goes by these days. Relocated to London after faking his own death at the end of Season 3 and going on the search for his beloved Marienne, Joe/Jonathan is trying to maintain a quiet new life in Europe, working as an English professor, when he gets tangled up in the mystery of the “Eat the Rich” killer.
Badgley is best known for his TV roles on hit shows “You” and “Gossip Girl,” on which he starred as Dan Humphrey for all six seasons. Notable film roles include “Easy A,” “The Stepfather,” “Margin Call” and “Here Today.”
Tati Gabrielle as Marienne
The only other cast member carrying over from Season 3, Tati Gabrielle will return as Marienne, the latest target of Joe’s obsession. Marienne fell for Joe during Season 3, but after she learned about his true nature, she went on the run to Europe … where Joe followed.
Gabrielle previously starred in “The 100,” “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” and most recently, Netflix’s “Kaleidoscope.” She also voices Willow Park in “The Owl House” and starred alongside Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg in the 2022 “Uncharted” movie.
Charlotte Ritchie as Kate
Joe’s neighbor, Kate is best friends with mega-famous, aristocratic socialite Lady Phoebe and a mainstay of the ultra-wealthy circle Joe befriends in Season 4 — though Kate is not especially quick to trust the American newcomer who wanders his way into the most VIP of lifestyles. A brilliant and hard-working art curator, Kate is dating Joe’s colleague, Malcolm.
Kate is played by Charlotte Ritchie, who played the lead role of Allison Cooper in the original British version of “Ghosts,” the remake of which is now a hit CBS sitcom in the United States. Previous credits also include”Feel Good,” “Call the Midwife” and “Fresh Meat.”
Ed Speleers as Rhys Montrose
A celebrated author on the rise, Rhys Montrose is poised to make major political moves in London — and he has the support of the people behind him as a rags-to-riches Oxford graduate who rose to fame after penning his autobiography.
Rhys is played by Ed Speelers. After his breakout role as Eragon in the 2006 film adaptation of the same name, Speelers has starred as Stephen Bonnet in “Outlander” and James “Jimmy” Kent in “Downton Abbey.” Previous films also include “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” “Breathe” and “The House That Jack Built.” In addition to “You,” Speelers is set to play a key mystery role in “Picard” this year.
Stephen Hagan as Malcolm
Joe’s colleague and neighbor, and Kate’s party monster boyfriend, Malcolm is Joe’s entrypoint into the British elite after he invites Joe to join his friends for a wild night of debauchery at their regular hangout, Sundry House.
Malcolm is played by Stephen Hagan, whose previous roles include “A Royal Christmas,” “Lucky Man,” “The Larkins” and “Hope Street.”
Tilly Keeper as Lady Phoebe
A central figure in the upper class British circles Joe joins in Season 4, Lady Phoebe is a Uber-rich and equally famous heiress — or as Joe puts it: “toxically aristocratic, quintessentially blonde” with a reputation for being a genuine sweetheart. Best friends with Kate, Phoebe is dating American rich-kid hotshot, Adam.
Phoebe is played by Tilly Keeper, best known for playing Louise Mitchell in nearly 400 episodes of the beloved U.K. soap “EastEnders.”
Lukas Gage as Adam
Phoebe’s flamboyant, reckless boyfriend, Adam is the screw-up of his silver spoon family, now climbing the ropes among England’s upper crust. He’s also the ambitious owner of Sundry House, the “absurdly elitist,” $250K-per-year club for the “gorgeous, rich and spoiled.”
Adam is played by Lukas Gage, who previously starred in “The White Lotus,” “Angelyne,” “Love, Victor,” “American Vandal” and “Tagged.” Gage has also appeared in series “Queer as Folk,” “Euphoria,” “Veronica Mars” and “Supergirl,” and films including “Moonshot” and “Assassination Nation.”
Amy-Leigh Hickman as Nadia
Joe doesn’t spend all his time mixing with the well-to-do in Season 4; he’s also a professor and Nadia is his prize pupil. Sharp, well-read and “brutally Gen-Z,” as Joe puts it, Nadia is a quick-witted companion to Joe who helps him frame his “Eat the Rich” killer predicament through the eyes of a murder-mystery expert.
Nadia is played by Amy-Leigh Hickman, who previously starred in U.K. series “Safe,” “Our Girl,” “Strike Back,” “EastEnders” and “The Dumping Ground.”
Brad Alexander as Edward
Edward is another student of Joe’s, whose father owns a popular news outlet, and who can usually be found alternately courting or bickering with Nadia. Edward is played by newcomer Brad Alexander.
Ben Wiggins as Roald
Roald is a childhood friend of Kate’s and yet another uber-wealthy egoist who frequents Sundry House. He is played by Ben Wiggins, best known for the zombie Christmas musical “Anna and the Apocalypse,” “Mary Queen of Scots,” and appearances in “The Witcher,” “Pennyworth,” “Grantchester” and “The Sandman.”
Dario Coates as Connie
Another Oxford grad in Kate and Phoebe’s friend group, Connie is a boisterous, notoriously hard-partying washout with little care in the world. Connie is played by Dario Coates, best known for playing Alex Neeson on the British soap “Coronation Street.” Previous credits also include “The Girlfriend Experience,” “Tell Me Everything” and “Rules of the Game.”
Aidan Cheng as Simon Soo
An Oxford grad artist working with Kate, and the moneyed son of a Chinese tech magnate, Simon is dripping with disdain for those he sees below his status and artistic gifts. Simon is played by Aidan Cheng, whose previous credits include “Harlots,” “The Girlfriend Experience” and “Devils.”
Niccy Lin as Sophie Soo
Simon’s sister, Sophie is a stunning, seemingly vapid social media influencer, who is also a cutthroat entrepreneur, ever-negotiating sponsorships for anything that appears in her social media posts. Sophie is played by Niccy Lin, who previously appeared in “The Great,” “Treadstone” and “Drifters.”
Ozioma Whenu as Blessing
Blessing is a glamorous Nigerian princess and international snob who is “in tech,” aka she peddles NFTs, and as Joe puts it “all of her business plans feel like pyramid schemes.” She is played by Ozioma Whenu, who previously appeared in “The Witcher: Blood Origin.”
Eve Austin as Gemma
The apex spoiled little rich kid in a room full of them, Gemma loves to live large and displays no empathy or consideration for anyone outside her social sphere — though she does have striking instincts on rare occasions. Gemma is played by Eve Austin, whose previous roles include “Our Ladies,” “The Athena,” “The ABC Murders” and “In the Flesh.”
