The jig might just be up for Penn Badgley’s Joe Goldberg in the upcoming fifth and final season of “You.”

In the trailer for the new season, Joe is back in New York City thanks to Kate (Charlotte Ritchie), who, since meeting him in London, has transformed Joe’s under the radar life as he steps out at the city’s most exclusive events.

“Fame definitely took a bit of getting used to, but to live happily ever after you had to bury your old self,” Joe said in the trailer.

All that is interrupted when Joe comes face-to-face with a fresh-faced woman named Bronte (Madeline Brewer), but Joe convinces himself, “you have a great life — it’s just not worth the risk.”

That strategy doesn’t work too well though, as the trailer sees Joe kissing Bronte, putting his so-called perfect life in danger.

Meanwhile, Joe’s past is starting to get uncovered, with a tabloid reading “Joe Goldmurder: Humanitarian or Homicidal Maniac?” turning him into the “most visible man in New York.”

His first blast from the past is from Kathryn Gallagher’s Annika, who was friends with Beck and Peach. “If anyone knows anything about Joe Goldberg, we want to know,” Annika said in a social media posted to social media. “That psycho absolutely killed my best friend, Peach.”

Even Kate starts to get wise to Joe tactics, saying “No, you want us to kill everyone who’s suspicious of us for the rest of our lives.” “Is that so wrong, if it’s for the right reasons?” Joe responded.

The trailer teases the finale will conclude in an ending “you never saw coming.”

In addition to Brewer, Season 5 adds “Pitch Perfect” star Anna Camp, who stars as both of Joe’s twin sisters-in-law, as well as Griffin Matthews, who plays Joe’s brother-in-law.

“You,” which is produced by Berlanti Productions and Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television, was co-created by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble. Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo serve as showrunners and writers, and executive produce “You” alongside Berlanti, Badgley, Gamble, Sarah Schechter, Leslie Morgenstein, Leigh London Redman, Gina Girolamo, Neil Reynolds and Marcos Siega.

“You” Season 5 premieres April 24 on Netflix.
