Yahoo Launches New Shows from Rebecca Minkoff, Cat Deeley

Yahoo has now teamed up with Tom Hanks and “CSI” creator Anthony Zuiker, but on Monday it invested further in it’s female-oriented programming

Yahoo has already teamed up with the likes of Tom Hanks and "CSI" creator Anthony Zuiker for web series, and on Monday it doubled down on its slate of women’s programming, renewing all but one of its current shows and adding three new ones.

Yahoo has been investing heavily in original web video, launching the portal Yahoo Screen last October. As part of that launch, Yahoo debuted a lineup of six female-oriented shows, five of which Yahoo picked up on Monday.

The returning shows include “Reluctantly Healthy” with Judy Greer (left) and “Ultimate Surprises,” a reboot of “Ultimate Proposal,” which is produced by Fishbowl Worldwide Media.

Three new shows have been added to bolster that schedule, including “In the Dressing Room with Cat Deeley,” “Style Studio with Rebecca Minkoff” and “The Yo Show on Yahoo!.”

Minkoff, a designer, will be hosting a fashion series in which she “will help women discover their own unique sense of style and create the online profile picture that will help them achieve their dreams.”

Deeley, a model turned television personality, will bring people into her dressing room in advance of “So You Think You Can Dance” while Michael Yo, host of “Yo,” will look at the day in pop culture and entertainment.

“Given its great success, we are launching a second round of production and programming for these shows targeted at women,” Mickie Rosen, senior vice president of Yahoo Media Network, said in a statement. “This is proof positive that premium Web video shows are the future of digital content, and that Yahoo! continues to lead in the space.”

Yahoo claims to have 21 of the top 25 original online video programs and later in April will be one of a handful of companies taking part in the “NewFront,” the equivalent of the television upfronts but for online video. Yahoo, Hulu, YouTube and others will try to impress advertisers with their original programming.

Yahoo has now become the second largest video destination after YouTube. In addition to this women's slate, Yahoo has a series of comedy shows and a few high-profile projects, including “Electric City" from Hanks, and “Cybergeddon" from “CSI” creator Zuiker.

Of the three new women's shows, "Yo" debuts today, and the other two launch later this spring.
