The nominations for the 28th annual Kids’ Choice Awards were unveiled by Nickelodeon on Friday, spanning music, movies, television and video games.
As they do in other fan-voted awards shows, superheroes dominated the nominations, with “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” leading the pack with five nominations each. “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” and “Guardians of the Galaxy,” the two highest grossing films of 2014, also scored nods, including Favorite Movie.
On the TV side, superheroes also had a strong showing, with ABC’s “Agents of SHIELD,” Fox’s “Gotham” and The CW’s “The Flash” going up against shows like “The Big Bang Theory” and “Modern Family” for Favorite Family TV Show.
Nominated for the first time are stars across all pop culture mediums including Iggy Azalea, Sam Smith, Angelina Jolie, Channing Tatum, Meryl Streep, Meghan Trainor, Chris Pratt, Liam Hemsworth, Elle Fanning and the band Imagine Dragons.
Beginning Friday, Feb. 20, kids can cast their votes across 21 categories, including new additions Favorite Talent Competition Show, Favorite Family TV Show and Most Addicting Game across all of Nickelodeon’s digital platforms, including Nick.com and the Nick app on Android, iOS and Kindle. Users will be able to vote on Nickelodeon’s Twitter feed using #KCA.
The Nick Jonas-hosted ceremony will be aired live on Nickelodeon on Saturday, Mar. 28, at 8 p.m. ET.
