‘X-Men’ Star James McAvoy Taunts Patrick Stewart on Shared Role: ‘It’s Mine Now’ (Video)

“I’ve got a job to do. This is how I do it, Patrick,” the younger Charles Xavier jokes

James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart have shared “X-Men” character Charles Xavier across films before, but the upcoming time-traveling installment “Days of Future Past” provided the first time for the two to actually shoot a scene together.

It also gave McAvoy a bundle of nerves — and even more excitement — the self-proclaimed “massive ‘Star Trek’ fan” told Seth Meyers on Tuesday’s “Late Night.”

“It did feel quite ceremonial doing the scene with him, it was like [the role] was being passed over a little bit,” McAvoy said.

“I don’t know if he thinks he’s coming back, I don’t know — but I’m going to have something to say about that,” the actor joked.

The man who plays the younger Charles Xavier added: “As much as you are nervous, you’ve got to go … ‘I’ve got a job to do. This is how I do it, Patrick. It’s mine now.’”

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” warps into theaters on Friday.
