Woody Harrelson shared a surprising connection to the current Trump Administration, telling Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday that he knew Vice President Mike Pence when they were both at Hanover College in Indiana.
“I knew him. We were both very religious,” said Harrelson on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” “I remember I actually quite liked him. He was a pretty good guy. He’s very religious.”
While that may be a surprising friendship nowadays, back then it made sense: Harrelson was at the Presbyterian-affiliated school on a Presbyterian scholarship. “I was actually considering being a minister,” he said, before admitting what everyone knew: “I just kind of went a different way.”
That “different way” is why Harrelson isn’t expecting the VP to invite him over for dinner anytime soon. “Seeing how I’m not quite in that ballpark now I don’t know how we’d get along,” he continued. “He’s still quite religious, just a whole different brand of religious. That kind of fervor that you really don’t want.”
Watch the video above to hear why Harrelson decided against a life at the church so that he could “have a 20s and 30s of extreme hedonism.”
