Andrea Wong, the former president and chief executive officer of Lifetime, was elected to Liberty Media’s board of directors, the company announced on Thursday. The media conglomerate owns Starz, Overture Films, and a stake in the Atlanta Braves in addition to several other entertainment and communications properties.
"Andrea’s extensive experience in media and expertise in programming will be valuable in helping guide Liberty," Greg Maffei, president and C.E.O. of Liberty Media, said in a statement. "We look forward to her contributions as our newest board member."
Wong left Lifetime in February after the network was acquired by A&E. During her tenure she had brought more original programming to the channel such as "Army Wives" and "Drop Dead Diva," but also got stung after a move to steal "Project Runway" from Bravo resulted in disappointing ratings.
Prior to taking the reins at Lifetime in 2007, Wong worked in reality programming at ABC, helping to shepherd the current hit "Dancing with the Stars" to the air.
