“Narcos” star Pedro Pascal has joined the cast of “Wonder Woman 2,” an individual with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap.

Pascal’s role remains under wraps. But TheWrap previously confirmed that, like “Wonder Woman,” “Wonder Woman 2” will be a period piece, with Princess Diana facing off against the Soviet Union during the 1980s.

Pascal joins recently-announced Kristen Wiig, who is set to play classic Wonder Woman villain Cheetah in the sequel.

No other cast members have been announced, but it’s worth noting that WB still has an option for Chris Pine, who played love interest Steve Trevor. Trevor was killed off during the events of “Wonder Woman,” but bringing characters back from the dead isn’t a stretch for a world in which living gods from Greek mythology walk the earth.

Pascal, who broke out as Oberyn Martell in HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” then followed up with “Narcos,” was most recently seen in Fox’s “Kingsmen: The Golden Circle” and will next be seen opposite Denzel Washington in Antoine Fuqua’s sequel to “The Equalizer,” which opens on July 20. Pascal will also appear in Annapurna and Barry Jenkin’s drama “If Beale Street Could Talk.”

Also of note, Pascal previously starred in NBC’s 2011 “Wonder Woman” pilot which starred Adrianne Palicki as Diana/Wonder Woman.

The film is slated for release on Nov. 1, 2019.

Pascal is repped by WME and Untitled Entertainment.

Variety first reported the news.
