Set phasers to stunned — William Shatner is going country.
“Star Trek” alum Shatner has signed a deal with Heartland Records Nashville, the label said Friday.
Details on the project Shatner is working on for the label were scant, but Heartland vowed that it will be “very special,” which probably goes without saying.
“This new project promises to be one of the most entertaining musical ventures to date for the Emmy Award-winning actor,” Heartland said of the project, which will be released “later this year.”
While country music might be a strange new world for Shatner, he’s no stranger to the recording studio. In addition to his acting gigs, he has recorded a number of albums, including the 1968 spoken-word effort “The Transformed Man.”
