"Evil Dead," a remake of the 1981 cult classic horror film, scared up a tidy $26 million at the box office this weekend for Sony's TriStar, Film District and Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures.

It had to have helped — particularly with the original's hardcore fans — that Raimi, who directed the original, Robert Tapert, who produced the original, and Bruce Campbell, who starred as the heroic Ash, were producers on the new film.
Now the question is, did the remake make enough — its production budget was around $17 million — to justify a re-do of "Army of Darkness," Raimi's 1993 follow-up to "The Evil Dead"?
