A Barcelona footballer, an eliminated singer and an appendicitis patient had viewers talking passionately on social media over the past week.

The Wrap has partnered with Canvs, a language analytics company that measures emotions around content, for a weekly look at some of the characters and personalities that have TV viewers the most worked up on social media. The data below covers April 19-25 and is drawn from the most emotionally reacted-to television shows, including broadcast, cable, streaming and PPV.

In a fierce soccer match between Real Madrid and Barcelona on Sunday that prompted 87,020 Emotional Reactions (ERs), Barcelona forward Lionel Messi scored his 500th goal for the football club, and in doing so, secured the win for his team during the second minute of added time for the game.

Viewers expressed plenty of awe:

Despite losing the “Instant Save” and being eliminated during the most recent episode of NBC’s “The Voice” (94,299 ERs), artist Troy Ramey was the most mentioned contestant during the Live Top 12 Eliminations, beating out Mark Isaiah, who won the viewers’ vote.

While some were unmoved by Troy’s rendition of “Drift Away,” others professed their love for the singer and tweeted about how sad they were to see him go.

The season-four finale of Hallmark’s hit show “When Calls the Heart” received 26,677 ERs, with the character Cody Hastings (portrayed by Carter Ryan Evancic) being the most mentioned. The penultimate episode had ended with a cliffhanger centered around a deathly ill Cody. During the final installment of the season, viewers found out that he had (spoiler!) appendicitis and after a nail-biting search for a doctor who could perform surgery, were relieved to see the young boy pull through and recover well.
