The week’s most emotionally reacted-to TV personalities and characters
A Kardashian sister, an MLB team and a sports superstar had viewers talking passionately on social media over the past seven days.
The Wrap has partnered with Canvs, the emotion measurement AI company, for a weekly look at some of the characters and personalities that have TV viewers the most worked up on social media. The data below covers Aug. 1-7 and is drawn from the most emotionally reacted-to television programs, including broadcast, cable, streaming and PPV.
LeBron James made some big emotional waves during his recent interview with Don Lemon on CNN, which generated over 64,202 Emotional Reactions (ERs). James announced the opening of his new nonprofit “I Promise” school for at-risk youth and also delved into a bit of political discussion — setting off none other than President Trump, who took to Twitter to declare Lemon dumb and to take a dig at James. This sparked an avalanche of emotion from viewers, with many not shy about taking sides.
Lebron is awesome in every way. To not only live up to the hype, but far surpass it, is amazing. And he's a great philanthropist.

LeBron would be ten times better as President than Donald. Name a person living under a bigger rock than Trump. I’ll wait. https://t.co/WAaOqurWyR

LeBron is an obnoxious, arrogant Hillary-worshipping jerk but I don’t think he’s dumb. Don Lemon, however, is an absolute imbecile. #CNN

The MLB game between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees on Aug. 5 generated 29,162 ERs, and even though the Red Sox emerged victorious in a series sweep, it was the Yankees who drove more emotional conversation that evening. Fans vented about their disappointment in the team this season, with some going as far as to say that the Yankees deserved to get swept.
ONE OF THE WORST YANKEES GAMES I'VE SEEN IN MANY YEARS..🤔🤔🤔 THEY CANNOT GET RID OF THAT DARK CLOUD..🤢🤢 GOODNIGHT

Say what you want about Girardi, but his teams never made the mental and lazy mistakes that this Yankees team does

Hate to say this, but Yankees deserve to get swept. They've looked horrible this series. Can't put a complete game together. Inexcusable.

I love how the Yankees carefully constructed maybe the best bullpen of all time that can’t beat their arch rivals. #NYYvsBOS

The Season 15 premiere of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” on E! generated 25,680 ERs, with Kourtney being the most-mentioned. Drama swirled around all the sisters, with a Christmas card photoshoot sparking a power struggle between Kourtney and Kim that ultimately resulted in Kourtney skipping Kim’s baby shower. The two played out the fight in real time on Twitter as the episode was airing, prompting even more emotion from fans.
I totally get both sides. Was Kim being very rude? Definitely, but Kourtney was definitely being annoying. #KUWTK

Kourtney is so damn dramatic crying her eyes out bc Kim was a bitch but she’s a bitch to everyone everyday smh🤦🏽♀️
— Gabby Cruz (@xogabbbby) August 6, 2018
Kim took it too far and too low with her comments to Kourtney. And it’s gross how Kris tells Kourt to be nice but can’t say the same when Kim goes ballistic. #KUWTK
