This year’s Oscars ceremony kicked off with a stunning live performance from “Wicked” stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, and the film had no shortage of nominations.

Directed by Jon M. Chu, the movie tells the story of Oz long before Dorothy ever got there, and how the Wicked Witch of the West became, well, wicked. Based on Gregory Maguire’s book, the story first became a hit Broadway musical, and took decades to make it to the big screen.

If you somehow haven’t seen it yet, here’s how you can!

Is “Wicked” streaming?

Not yet! After a strong theatrical run, “Wicked” is now available to rent or purchase on Digital, Blu-ray and 4K.

However, the wait is almost over. “Wicked” will be streaming over on Peacock beginning Friday, March 21 — along with a collection of bonus content.

When did “Wicked” come out?

“Wicked” first hit theaters on November 22, 2024.

What is “Wicked” about?

“Wicked” tells the story of Elphaba, a witch who eventually rises to infamy in Oz, and Glinda, her best friend at school. Yes, that’s the same Glinda who we meet as Glinda the Good Witch in “The Wizard of Oz.” This is the story of their friendship, and how everything went wrong.

Who stars in “Wicked”?

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande star in the film as Elphaba and Glinda, respectively. They lead a heavy-hitting cast that includes Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Peter Dinklage and more.

Will there be a sequel?

Yes! Well, sort of. Technically, “Wicked” is just part one of the story. It cuts off after the song “Defying Gravity,” much like the Broadway show goes to intermission.

“Wicked: For Good,” will tell the rest of the story, and is set to hit theaters next year.
