A member of the White House staff is killed in “The Residence,” and despite the story itself being a work of insane fiction, at least one part of it is real: the man’s job.

Now streaming on Netflix, the series centers on Cordelia Cupp (Uzo Aduba), a crack detective called in to solve the death of A.B. Wynter (Giancarlo Esposito), the Chief Usher at the White House, who’s mysteriously killed during an event. With 132 rooms and 157 suspects, it’s…a difficult case, to say the least.

But in case you were wondering if Wynter’s job is actually a thing, the answer is yes.
