The Weinstein Company has acquired rights to "Snowpiercer," an action film starring Jamie Bell, Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton.
It will handle the post-apocalyptic thriller's rollout in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
The film, which is adapted from a French graphic novel, co-stars Song Kang-ho, John Hurt, Ed Harris, Octavia Spencer, Ewen Bremner and Alison Pill. Bong Joon Ho, whose often satiric horror film "The Host" was a critical favorite, directs.
The film is set in a grim future where a failed attempt to stop global warming results in an Ice Age. In the movie, a train of survivors travels around the frosty planet, while a revolution begins brewing.
The Weinstein Company snagged the rights from CJ Entertainment.
