WE tv has renewed freshman reality series “Growing up Hip Hop” for Season 2, the network announced Thursday.

The series, which followed the children of hip hop moguls like Rev Run and Damon Dash, will return with a new batch of episodes in 2017. The six-episode first season concluded last month, averaging 966,000 total viewers per episode, according to Nielsen.

“We’re excited for another season and the opportunity to continue watching these talented and driven individuals pursue their own definitions of success, emerging from the shadows of their famous parents and the hip hop empires they were born into,” Marc Juris, president of WE tv, said in a statement. “This show connected with viewers immediately, because these characters and stories are real and relatable, and we can’t wait to bring the fans more.”

John Morayniss, Tara Long and Mark Herwick serve as executive producers on the series for EntertainmentOne Television (eOne) along with Angela Simmons, Romeo Miller, Percy Robert Miller (Master P) and Datari Turner. Datari Turner Productions is co-producing the series.

Lauren Gellert, EVP, development and original programming and Suzanne Murch, VP, original programming, executive produce for WE tv.
