Hawke will produce through his company Under the Influence Prods., and his wife, Ryan Hawke, will also serve as a producer along with Furst Films' Bryan and Sean Furst. Chris Cowles and Chris Fenton of H2F Entertainment will exec produce the film, which is scheduled to start production early next year.
ContentFilm Intl. has acquired worldwide rights to the project and will be selling it at the Toronto International Film Festival along with several other indies.
Akerman is part of the ensemble of Galt Niederhoffer's dramedy "The Romantics," which opens in limited release this weekend, and she'll soon be seen in Josh Radnor's acclaimed indie "Happythankyoumoreplease."
The actress recently wrapped the thriller "Catch .44", and she also stars opposite Ryan Phillippe and Taylor Kitsch in the South African drama "The Bang Bang Club," which will be seeking U.S. distribution at Toronto.
Hawke is currently filming Pawel Pawlikowski's "The Woman in the Fifth" with fellow Oscar nominee Kristin Scott Thomas.
Akerman is represented by WME and Sanders Armstrong Caserta Management.
The actress' involvement in the project was first reported by Variety.
