Apparently, there is a power in the universe that can unite the Dark Side with the Light. And it’s Bruno Mars’ megahit “Uptown Funk.”
In a video tweeted to celebrate “Star Wars Day” on May the 4th, the White House posted a clip of President Barack Obama and wife Michelle dancing with R2-D2 and a pair of Stormtrooopers.
The video, posted late Wednesday, included a caption paraphrasing Yoda: “Dance. Or dance not. There is no try. #MayThe4thBeWithYou ”
As anyone who glanced at social media figured out yesterday, May 4 is celebrated by “Star Wars” fans as a special day to honor their favorite space-opera franchise. Attention to this year’s “holiday” was heightened by the release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in December, Disney’s first in a series of “Star Wars” sequels and off-shoot films. The next movie to be released will be “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” later this year.
“The Force Awakens” is the top-grossing film in U.S. history with more than $900 million at the domestic box office, beating the $760 million of former record-holder “Avatar.” The more than $2 billion worldwide haul, however, still falls behind Jim Cameron’s 2009 sci-fi epic and 1997’s “Titanic.”
