Here’s your reminder that LASIK surgery is, indeed, surgery. On Thursday’s “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” the NBC late-night host surprised guest Taylor Swift with some cell-phone footage of her attempting to eat a banana while on post-op pain killers, which the “Lover” singer referred to as “hardcore pills.”
“What is going on?” Swift asked Fallon when he started asking some pretty specific questions about her experience after having a frickin’ laser beam fix her vision. “What’s happening right now?”
“Your mom may or may not have videotaped you after surgery,” Fallon told his surprised and terrified guest. “And she gave us the video.”
“FOR THE TELEVISION?” Swift asked, sounding much older than her 29 years.
“You were like freaking out over a banana,” Fallon set the clip up for Swift, the 30 Rock studio audience and viewers at home. “This is real.”
There are some real treasures in the footage, like an out-of-it Swift telling her mom from bed, “I’m not asleep, my mind is alive.” Sweet kitchen, too.
Watch the video above.
Fallon even assigned a hashtag, “#LASIKLover,” to the occasion.
Swift is the “Saturday Night Live” musical guest this weekend, when Phoebe-Waller Bridge will host the sketch-comedy show for the first time.
