“The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” took a cryptic (albeit humorous) look at the speculated power Steve Bannon holds in the White House with an animated chief strategist comforting an insecure and weepy President Trump with a bedtime story, Friday night.
The cartoon begins with the president tucked into bed and a schlubby-looking chief strategist sitting on a nearby rocker, reading him “Bedtime With Breitbart.”
“And that’s how the Democrats raised millions of Mexicans from the dead to vote against you,” Bannon said, bringing the story to its close.
“Wow. I love that one Bannie, I’m glad I have you as a friend,” said animated Trump.
“Yes. Friend,” Bannon said with a suspicious side-eye.
“Bannie? It’s just, why don’t the celebrities like me?” Trump said, bursting into tears.
“Oh, Donnie, they’re just afraid of you,” Bannon answered. “Yes, they think you’re a big powerful man who will bring an end to their way of life and all life on Earth.”
“Am I really that powerful?” asked Trump.
“Of course I am,” said Bannon, patting the president on the head.
