New “Saturday Night Live” cast member Chloe Fineman hasn’t gotten much screen time on the show to date, but she showed off her talent for impressions on Saturday at the “Weekend Update” desk — even sending up two-fold Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson while fiancé Colin Jost sat beside her.
After pursing her lips for an impression of Scarlett Johansson performing “teacup acting” for “Marriage Story,” she turned to Jost and asked, “Do you feel like you’re at home, Colin?” — prompting the “Weekend Update” anchor to bashfully lower his head and grin.
Fineman began by touting her love for Oscar movies ahead of Sunday’s awards show — and particularly what she called “steering wheel acting.” “It’s the scene in every Oscar movie where a woman is finally alone in her car and just lets it all go,” she explained, as she pretends to break down in tears while banging on the steering wheel.
Since “Little Women” is set in a time before cars, she explained, Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet “broke out an ancient technique called buggy acting.”
She then proceeds to provide spot-on impressions of actresses from this year’s Oscar nominees like Ana de Armas’ maid in “Knives Out,” Renée Zellweger in “Judy” and Meryl Streep.
