Kirk Douglas turns 100 years old on Friday, but the cinematic treasure and his son, Michael, celebrated his birthday a little early.
On Oct. 1, Michael Douglas led a tribute to his dad at the 95th anniversary of the Motion Picture and Television Fund — a group that helps sustain entertainment industry professionals in need. Douglas said his father and his wife of 62 years, Anne, have donated more than $40 million to the MPTF, helping pay for medical treatments, retirement costs and an array of other expenses.
At the 95th anniversary event, “Hollywood’s Night Under the Stars,” the elder Douglas delivered some rare remarks thanking his son — and made a gentle joke at his expense.
