‘Doctor Who’: Watch Matt Smith’s Final Scene and Peter Capaldi’s First (Video)

The Eleventh Doctor on the long-running BBC series made his exit during the annual Christmas special, while the twelfth Doctor made his debut

As expected, Matt Smith made his final appearance as the Eleventh Doctor during BBC’s “Doctor Who” Christmas special, “The Time of the Doctor,” on Wednesday, and his dramatic exit — as well as new Doctor Peter Capaldi‘s entrance — is now available for your viewing pleasure.

Die-hard fans probably want to watch the entire episode to learn of Smith’s fate, of course, so be warned of the spoilers contained in the clip (above) from the last five minutes of the series’ 800th episode.

As Smith made his final farewell to companion Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) in the TARDIS, he caught a glimpse of his first companion, Amy Pond (Karen Gillan), then dropped his iconic bow tie to the floor and he was gone in  a flash.

In that same flash, the Twelfth Doctor (Capaldi) appears in the time-traveling machine with one very important question for Clara: “Do you happen to know how to fly this thing?”
