“War for the Planet of the Apes” dropped its first teaser on Thursday, with Andy Serkis‘ Caesar delivering a chilling narration foreshadowing the battle to come.
“You must go,” he says. “Before the fighting begins. I’m sorry. War has begun.” Doesn’t exactly paint a rosy picture, does it?
Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel (Woody Harrelson). After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own quest to avenge his kind.
As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in a battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
Steve Zahn, Judy Greer, Karin Konoval, Amiah Miller, and Terry Notary also star. Matt Reeves returns as director after helming “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.” Reeves also co-wrote the screenplay with Mark Bomback. Bomback serves as an executive producer Mary McLaglen. Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver are producing.
“War for the Planet of the Apes” will premiere on July 14.
