Netflix has ordered “The Upshaws,” a new multi-camera comedy series starring Wanda Sykes and Mike Epps, the streaming service said on Tuesday.

Regina Hicks is set as co-showrunner and executive producer on the upcoming show, which “centers on a working-class African American family in Indiana struggling to make it work and make it right without the blueprints to do it,” Netflix said in its description of the series.

In addition to starring on “The Upshaws,” Sykes will executive produce and serve as co-showrunner on the series, with Epps, Dan Spilo, Page Hurwitz and Niles Kirchner also executive producing.

Earlier this year, Sykes launched her first comedy special for Netflix — and fifth overall — “Wanda Sykes: Not Norma;.”
