AMC has released a new teaser trailer for “The Walking Dead” season 5B.
The trailer, which was directed by Jose Gomez, features Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his rag-tag group fighting their way through a foggy forest, with Rick reminding them all via voiceover that “surviving together is all that matters.” We see Michonne (Danai Gurira) draw her trademark samurai sword in preparation for a fight, along with Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Glen (Steven Yeun), and Daryl (Norman Reedus) laying down some serious firepower.
At the conclusion of the Nov. 30 midseason finale, Rick and the others were at a crossroads. With Eugene revealing that he lied about knowing how to cure the zombie disease, the group finds itself without a home or a purpose. Now they must traverse the open wilderness, living day to day and fighting for their very survival.
Fans of the series will also recall that Rick’s former ally, Morgan (Lennie James), has been getting closer and closer to finding his group. A post-credit scene in the midseason finale featured Morgan arriving at the church just after Rick and the others had departed. Though it seemed unlikely their paths would cross, Morgan finds a map bearing Rick’s name, hinting that he may finally catch up to them in the second half of the season.
“The Walking Dead” premieres Sunday, Feb. 8 at 9 p.m.
