It’s been a rough apocalypse for the motley gang of survivors on AMC’s “The Walking Dead.” But a new trailer for the back half of Season 5 teases the faintest glimmer of hope.
“Don’t you want one more day with a chance?” asks the oft-stoic Michonne (Danai Gurira).
WARNING: For those not yet caught up, spoilers ahead!
November’s mid-season finale shocked audiences and on-screen characters alike with the death of soft-spoken songstress Beth (Emily Kinney), which prompted Daryl (Norman Reedus) to execute her murderer, Dawn (Christine Woods). Now the group must process not only the loss of one of its most beloved members, but also the loss of a clear goal.
The Abraham Ford-led (Michael Cudlitz) faction of the group had previously been hellbent on traveling to Washington, D.C., to find a cure for the zombie plague. But recently Eugene (Josh McDermitt) admitted there was no cure, which set the group suddenly adrift.
So, what’s the gang’s new goal?
The same as it has always been: survival.
“We do what we need to do, and then we get to live,” says Rick (Andrew Lincoln) in the trailer, which is of course also packed with legion of undead.
“The Walking Dead” returns to AMC on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 9 p.m. ET.
