Abigail Walker (Katherine McNamara) is a woman on a mission to seek vengeance against the man who murdered her husband in the new teaser for The CW’s “Walker: Independence,” which you can view above in a clip shared exclusively with TheWrap.
The prequel to “Walker” (which stars Jared Padalecki in the reimagining of the classic “Walker, Texas Ranger”) takes viewers back some hundred years to the late 19th century, on the frontiers of the Wild West in the eponymous Texas town. Following the brutal killing of her husband, the would-be sheriff of Independence, the determined Abigail must band together with an eclectic group of residents — like the charming criminal Hoyt Rawlins (Matt Barr) and trusted Apache adviser Calian (Justin Johnson Cortez) — and figure out who she can trust in exacting justice against Sheriff Tom Davidson (Greg Hovanessian), a hypocritical lawman with shady business dealings.
The series also stars Lawrence Kao, Katie Findlay and Philemon Chambers. Seamus Fahey is executive producer, and he wrote the teleplay and co-wrote the story the show is based on. Current “Walker” EP and showrunner Anna Fricke is also an EP and story co-writer. Padalecki also executive produces the CBS Studios show alongside Dan Lin, Lindsey Liberatore (Rideback) and Laura Terry (Pursued By a Bear). Larry Teng is an EP and directs the pilot.
“Walker: Independence” debuts on The CW on Oct. 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, right after the third season premiere of “Walker.”
