Vuguru President Larry Tanz has been promoted to CEO of the independent studio founded by Michael Eisner, the former Disney chief said Tuesday.
"Larry's exceptional leadership, ability to attract high-profile talent, identify outstanding material and produce content that people want is why we chose to promote him to the position of CEO," Eisner said in a written statement. "Under his leadership, the company has expanded its production slate, created valuable partnerships and increased profitability."
Since Tanz has been president of Vuguru, the company released the series "The Booth at the End," which was distributed by Hulu and the film "Don't Ask Don't Tell," an adaptation of Marc Wolf's Off Broadway show.

There, he helped develop "The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers," which Paramount distributes. He also has been CEO and president of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's production company LivePlanet and director of strategy and operations at AOL Time Warner.
He also is a former senior associate at Mercer Management Consulting.
