Viola Davis Eyes EGOT After Audio Book Nominated for Grammy

The 57-year-old actress and producer’s memoir “Finding Me” could make her the 18th person to clinch the status

Viola Davis has a chance at joining the coveted EGOT list following her memoir “Finding Me” was Grammy nominated Tuesday for Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording.

If she wins, Davis would become the 18th person to hold the EGOT distinction. Other EGOTs include Whoopi Goldberg, John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Alan Menken and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The 57-year-old actress and producer received the Triple Crown of Acting after winning an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for 2016’s “Fences.” Prior to the Oscar, Davis won an Emmy in 2015 for “How to Get Away With Murder” and Tonys in 2001 and 2010 for “King Hedley II” and “Fences,” respectively.

Davis’ competitors in the Best Audio Book category include Mel Brooks, who has already earned the EGOT distinction, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jamie Foxx and QuestLove.

Brooks is nominated for his memoir “All About Me: My Remarkable Life In Show Business By Mel Brooks,” Miranda is nominated for “Aristotle and Dante Dive Into the Waters of the World,” Foxx is nominated for his memoir “Act Like You Got Some Common Sense” and QuestLove is nominated for “Music Is History.”

The 65th annual Grammys will be broadcast live on Sunday Feb. 5, on CBS and streamed live on Paramount+.
