From behind the microphone to a computer screen, Victoria Justice will make her TV return next year as a savvy tech genius on the hunt for a dangerous cyber stalker.
MTV released the trailer for “Eye Candy,” starring Justice, based on the best-selling novel from R.L. Stine, the mastermind behind the “Goosebumps” and “Fear Street” series.
Justice portrays Lindy, a 21-year-old hacker who begins to suspect one of her online suitors is a cyber stalker/killer in Manhattan. Teaming with a local cyber crimes unit, Lindy takes the case with trusted friends while dispensing her own style of justice in the dark series.
“People go missing everyday,” Justice can be heard saying in the trailer, as a soccer ball bounces near the lifeless corpse of a woman under a bridge. “It’s not fair.”
“Eye Candy” marks Justice’s return to a lead role since her Nickelodeon series “Victorious” ended after four seasons.
Casey Deidrick (Tommy), Kiersey Clemons (Sophia), John Garet Stoker (Connor) and Harvey Guillen (George) round out the cast.
Produced by Blumhouse Productions, Inc., Jason Blum (“Paranormal Activity,” “Insidious,” “Sinister”) and “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke serve as executive producers. As TheWrap previously reported, MTV ordered 10 episodes for the drama although the pilot will never air as the network decided to recast the series.
The new series joins the music network’s list of other popular shows such as “Teen Wolf, and “Awkward” which is heading into its fifth and final season.
“Eye Candy” debuts Monday, Jan. 12 at 10 p.m.
