Julia Phelps has been named senior VP of corporate communications at Viacom International Media Networks, it was announced Wednesday.
Phelps will oversee all communications and media relations for Viacom's international multiplatform brands. They include MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and BET.

Phelps previously served as VP of corporate communications for Viacom, Inc.
In her new position, Phelps will report directly to Bob Bakish, who is VIMN's president and CEO.
"We've drawn on Julia for communications counsel early and often over the past several years, as we've transformed [VIMN] and set the stage for even greater growth and new opportunities across the globe," Bakish, who was appointed president and CEO of VIMN in January, said in a statement. "Julia understands how to communicate the individual and collective strength of our brands and businesses worldwide."
Phelps will be responsible for VIMN's overall internal and external communications strategy and positioning. She will also manage VIMN's international communications teams and oversee communications for business units such as ad sales and consumer products.
Among Phelps' other duties is the management of VIMN's international communications teams on the regional and global level. The teams conduct media relations for corporate responsibility and research, digital media, and programming and events.
Phelps joined Viacom in 2005 after leaving DeVries Public Relations, a communications agency based in New York.
