Love was the drug as far as the DVD rental and sales markets were concerned last week, with the Warner Home Video-distributed “Valentine’s Day” topping both of Rentrak’s disc-business charts last week, according to Rentrak data.
Meanwhile, finishing second in the rental market for the week ended May 22 was Universal romantic comedy “It’s Complicated,” which was in its fourth week of disc release.
The Rentrak data – which doesn’t include such insignificant trivia as units sales or revenue – lists Warner’s post-apartheid-era inspiration-fest “Invictus” as the No. 2 DVD seller last week. (Both “Valentine’s Day” and “Invictus” were their first week of DVD and Blu-ray release.)
