Universal Studios has a new boss.
Michael Moore (right), president of Raleigh Entertainment/Raleigh Film and Television Studios, will take over as the President and General Manager of Universal Studios Operations beginning Sept. 17. Dave Beanes, the current chief, is retiring at the end of the year.
Moore will oversee the operations of Universal City Studios, which includes the production studio, sound stages and marketing.
He will report to Ron Meyer, president and COO of Universal Studios, and John Wallace, president for Operations and Technical Services at NBC Universal.
“Michael has the rare combination of skills to effectively lead our Studio Operations group and ensure the long-term success of this world-class Studio Lot,” Meyer said in a statement. “Dave has been a great partner and we thank him for his years of hard work, dedication and loyalty to the company.”
While at Raleigh, Moore oversaw the global operations of the company, including the studios, facilties, marketing and business development out of its Hollywood studio.
Universal just decided against building new residential and retail outlets on the Universal lot, proceeding with a 20-year plan that focuses on improving and expanding existing production facilities.
