Film and television producer Teri Schwartz has been named dean of UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television, the university said, pending confirmation by the UC Regents.
Her tenure will begin on July 1; she will be succeeding Robert Rosen, who held the post for almost 13 years.
A UCLA alumna and L.A. native, Schwartz has been the dean of Loyola Marymount’s School of Film and Television since 2003. Prior to her LMU post, she served as president of her own film and television production company, Teri Schwartz Prods.
From 1995 to 2000, she served as president of Cherry Alley Productions, creating and producing several projects in partnership with Goldie Hawn.
Schwartz’s credit list includes producer roles on several film and TV projects, including "Beaches," "Sister Act," "Joe Versus the Volcano" and "When Billie Beat Bobby." Among many groups of which she is a member are the DGA; Producer’s Guild of America; and Academy of Television Arts and Science.
Schwartz earned a B.A. degree in English literature at UCLA in 1971. She received her M.A. degree in film at the University of London in 1973.
In a statement, Scott Waugh, UCLA’s executive vice chancellor and provost, said, "I am confident that the School of Theater, Film and Television will thrive under Teri’s capable leadership."
