The cast of David Fincher‘s “Gone Girl” just gets more interesting, as Tyler Perry, Neil Patrick Harris, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit and Carrie Coon are set to join Rosamund Pike and Ben Affleck in 20th Century Fox and New Regency’s adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s bestselling novel, an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.
Perry will play Tanner Bolt, a defense attorney who represents Affleck’s character after he’s implicated in the disappearance of his wife (Pike).
Coon will play Affleck’s twin sister, while Dickens (“Treme”) and Fugit (“Thanks For Sharing”) will play detectives who investigate the cast.
Fincher reportedly cast Perry after seeing him in “Alex Cross,” which is ironic given the film’s 12% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, where most critics directed their ire towards Perry’s performance as the title character. That said, if any filmmaker deserves the benefit of the doubt when it comes to casting, it’s Fincher, who has a strong eye for matching actors with material.
Reese Witherspoon and Bruna Papandrea are producing “Gone Girl” through their Pacific Standard banner along with Leslie Dixon.
Production will begin this fall, before Affleck begins filming Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” sequel.
