Tyler Christopher has checked out of “General Hospital.”

Christopher, who’s played Nikolas Cassadine on the ABC soap for 10 years, will not be returning to the series, a spokesperson for “General Hospital” told TheWrap.

Christopher, who stars in the Brett Eichenberger-directed film “Pretty Broken,” due out next year, took a break from the show earlier this year, with Nick Stabile temporarily stepping into the role.

There was no further comment on his departure. However, according to Soap Opera Digest, contract negotiations that would have brought Christopher back this month fell apart in August.

The departure isn’t a complete surprise. In July, Christopher took to Twitter to say that he wasn’t sure if he would be returning to the series this month, noting, “Nothing official yet.”

“Slow down every1 I said I THINK Sept. will b my return 2 #GH. Nothing official yet,” Christopher wrote at the time. “Thanks for all the love 2day though. #Muchappreciated.”

A representative for Christopher has not yet responded to TheWrap’s request for comment.
