Adam Kanter and Martin Spencer, a pair of CAA agents with clients like the Farrelly Brothers and “Paranormal Activity” writer/producer Oren Peli, have joined Resolution, the new firm from former ICM Chairman Jeff Berg.
Kanter has been at CAA since 1989 and represented such clients as “Rescue Me” co-creator Peter Tolan, “Tommy Boy” director Peter Segal and Peter and Bobby Farrelly, the comedic minds behind “Dumb and Dumber.”
“I’m thrilled to join Resolution and am looking forward to playing an integral role in building a full service agency from its inception,” Kanter said in a statement. “I see the need for Resolution, and am delighted to be part of the team to make it happen.”
Spencer has also been at CAA for years, representing the likes of Peli and Simon Kinberg, the writer of “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” who is helping out on the upcoming “Star Wars” films. He, too, described himself as eager to help build an agency from the ground up.
It remains to be seen if any of their clients at CAA will join Kanter and Spencer at the new agency. Berg has been adding new agents little by little, but the client list remains a big question mark.
In a statement about his new agents, Berg described Kanter and Spencer as “two of the most respected and knowledgeable agents in the film business” who “will play a key role in the development of our new agency.”
