The latest “Twin Peaks” teaser features the first look at David Lynch‘s return as FBI Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole. Eating a donut. And that’s it.
In fact, most may have just assumed it was simply Lynch on screen were it not for the YouTube video’s title, “David Lynch Returns as Gordon Cole.”
The exact details of the new “Twin Peaks” have been a closely kept secret. Lynch released the names of all 200 plus cast members earlier this year, but offered virtually no other details about the project. He has also battled Showtime over the series’ budget, and threatened to walk off the show at point — but thankfully for fans of the cult series, he changed his mind.
The series is written and produced by series creators and executive producers Lynch and Mark Frost, and is directed entirely by Lynch.
While the full mystery awaits, fans can expect many familiar faces, including Golden Globe winner and Emmy Award nominee Kyle MacLachlan, who reprises his role as FBI Agent Dale Cooper.
“Twin Peaks” does not have an official premiere date, but Showtime president David Nevins previously said they hope to air the show in the “second quarter” of 2017.
