Catherine Hardwicke, who tapped into the world of a lovelorn teenage to great profits with "Twilight," will once again oversee the story of a young girl's coming of age with "The Age of Miracles."
The film, an adaptation of Karen Thompson Walker’s bestselling debut novel, centers on an 11-year-old girl growing up in California who finds, along with the rest of the world, that the rotation of the earth has suddenly begun to slow, potentially spelling doom for the planet.
Seth Lochhead ("Hanna") has adapted the screenplay. River Road Entertainment’s founder Bill Pohlad will produce.
Hardwicke recently directed "Plush," an upcoming thriller starring Emily Browning. In addition to "Twilight" she directed the Oscar-nominated "Thirteen" and "Red Riding Hood."
