Paramount+ today unveiled the full-length trailer for “Tulsa King,” the upcoming mafia series starring Sylvester Stallone from “Yellowstone” creator, Taylor Sheridan.
The crime drama stars Stallone as New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi, who fresh off a 25-year prison sentence finds himself heading midwest on his boss’ orders. To set up his new criminal enterprise, Dwight taps a ring of locals to join his crew – and where he goes, violence and chaos inevitably follow.
The clip opens with Dwight’s homecoming, where he doesn’t receive the warm welcome he was expecting. As a thank-you for keeping his mouth shut for a quarter-century, his boss sends him to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Dwight is clearly a fish out of water. By means of violence, intimidation and cold hard cash, he gets busy assembling his team.
“This is how it’s gonna work,” he tells a newly minted employee (played by Martin Starr). “I’ll protect you from the gangs… and the law… you gotta know your risks.”
“There was no risk until you came along,” he counters.
As quickly as Dwight gathers friends, he also attracts enemies – namely, the FBI and a local motorcycle gang. “You’re overplaying your hand,” the gang’s leader tells him.
“When I play my hand,” Dwight says, “You won’t see it coming.”
A series of ambushes, corpses and bombings trail in Dwight’s wake as he pulls more and more people into his web. In addition to Starr, the cast also features Andrea Savage, Jay Will, Max Casella, Domenick Lombardozzi, Vincent Piazza and A.C. Peterson, with Garrett Hedlund and Dana Delany.
Sheridan, who has a number of series in the works at Paramount+ along with current productions “1883” and “Mayor of Kingstown,” executive produces with showrunner and writer Terence Winter (“The Sopranos”).
Other executive producers include Stallone, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Allen Coulter and Braden Aftergood.
The first two episodes of the series launch Nov. 13 on Paramount+, followed by weekly episodes each Sunday. Check out the full trailer above or here.
