Reliable pro-Trump Fox News host Tucker Carlson blasted the president Thursday night on his show for comments he made about seizing firearms and ignoring “due process.”
Carlson said that his side would never have tolerated Barack Obama making similar remarks and that if he had, the former president would have been denounced as a “dictator,” with calls for his “impeachment.”
“How honest do you want to be? Imagine if Barack Obama had said that? Just ignore due process and confiscating guns? Obama would have been denounced as a dictator,” said Carlson. “We would have denounced him first, trust me. Congress would be talking impeachment. Some would be muttering secession.”
“Most of the President’s supporters have stuck by him no matter what has happened, and a lot has happened,” he added. “There’s a limit to the tolerance, they will not tolerate — and they shouldn’t have to tolerate by the way — betrayal of core promises of his campaign and that seems to be happening on guns, unfortunately.”
He repeated that sentiment on his Twitter account. Carlson is one of the 45 people President Trump follows on the platform.
Trump met w/ lawmakers on gun control where he bullied GOP who defend the 2A & said govt should "take guns first, go through due process second" Imagine Obama saying something similar? He'd been denounced as a dictator. Congress would talk impeachment. Some would mutter secession

For anyone who missed it, the president met publicly with lawmakers on Wednesday to discuss gun violence.
In response to the issue of mentally ill gun ownership, Trump casually floated that he didn’t much care for waiting until crimes were committed and personally preferred taking the guns first before due process.
“I like taking the guns early,” he said. “Take the guns first, go through due process second.”
