Are Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci teaming up again after the 1-2 punch of "The Devil Wears Prada" and "Julie & Julia," two female-driven comedies that earned the former a pair of Oscar nominations?
CAA has confirmed to TheWrap that it is shopping a package to studios that has Tucci directing Streep and Tina Fey in a project tentatively titled "Mommy & Me."
Several studios are believed to be interested in the mother-daughter comedy, with Sony emerging as the front-runner to acquire the project, which is based on a treatment by Joby Harold.
Tucci hasn't committed to appear in the film, but he will produce with his Olive Productions partners Steve Buscemi and Wren Arthur, as well as Locomotive's Lucy Barzun Donnelly and Joshua Astrachan and Safehouse's Tory Tunnell and Harold.
Tucci first worked behind the camera in 1996, when he co-directed the restaurant comedy "Big Night." None of his other movies — "The Impostor," "Joe Gould's Secret" and "Blind Date" — have registered much with audiences or critics. He's had more luck in front of the camera lately, earning an Oscar nomination last year for his wonderfully creepy turn in "The Lovely Bones." 
On the acting side, Tucci has five movies on the horizon, including the Wall Street thriller "Margin Call," Screen Gems' "Easy A" and "Burlesque," Marvel's "Captain America" and the animated film "Cat Tale."
Fey has had a somewhat rocky transition from TV to film, as neither "Baby Mama" or "Date Night" were up to par with her Emmy-winning work on "Saturday Night Live" and "30 Rock." Later this year, she'll lend her voice to the DreamWorks Animation's "Megamind."
Streep is in talks to play Margaret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady" and is attached to star in Mike Nichols' marital dreamy "Great Hope Springs."
CAA represents Streep and Tucci, while Fey is represented by WME.
