TruTV Renews ‘Fake Off,’ ‘Carbonaro Effect,’ ‘Impractical Jokers’; Greenlights More Comedy

Turner network continues to rebrand under president Chris Linn

Turner Entertainment’s truTV is doubling down on it’s laugh-heavy rebranding, ordering more of its flagship comedies and greenlighting new ones.

Second season orders have been given to comedy/magic hybrid “The Carbonaro Effect” and dance competition show “Fake Off,” as well as episode orders for the sketch comedy “Friends of the People.” To hype January’s Season 4 premiere of “Impractical Jokers,” the network will air a one-hour special documenting the cast’s recent tour.

“King of Cue” and “Santas in the Barn” have been ordered, with a pilot for “Those Who Can’t.”

Under the tutelage of president Chris Linn, the programming slate aims to step away from truTV’s docuseries roots.

The rebrand was really driven by a desire for truTV to break out of the premium brand and to break away from its sort of derivative nature into new areas that felt relevant to audiences,” he told TheWrap in October

“Cue” follows the competitive landscape of New York City pool halls, while “Santas” will follow 10 St. Nicholas “enthusiasts” as they uncover Christmas traditions from around the world.
