President Donald Trump’s desire to illegally remove everyone in Gaza and turn the region into a resort town might be horrifying, but he proved on Tuesday night that it’s also kind of ridiculous. He did so by sharing an unhinged, apparently AI-generated clip absolutely riddled with mistakes.
In addition to depicting him as extremely obese, the clip also features the kinds of weird, clearly not intended errors that are the hallmark of so-called “artificial intelligence,” including a scene of two bearded bellydancers on a beach. And the latter part had Trump critics howling at how unintentionally “woke” Trump had become.
First, here’s that clip in full:
If you can’t (or wisely just don’t want to) watch, the incredibly unhinged 34-second clip starts with scenes purporting to be of Gaza as it looks today, a year and four months into the ongoing war. Green text reading “GAZA 2025” appears over images of streets covered in rubble, surrounded by damaged buildings.
Then red, white and blue text reading “What’s Next?” appears over footage of displaced Palestinians walking. This quickly jumps to scenes of silhouetted people walking through a ruined tunnel that opens into what appears to be a Dubai-style city. Cut to a man who looks like an AI-generated Elon Musk eating food on a beach, followed at the 14-second mark by the aforementioned belly dancers.
This is followed by scenes of people on wealthy streets, a child holding a golden Trump balloon and highly suspect renderings of beachfront resorts with yachts nearby. Then we see a very poorly rendered Trump — presented unflatteringly as very fat — dancing with a woman wearing a dress that exposes her buttocks. This is followed by what appears to be a poorly rendered Musk, looking far thinner and fitter than he is in real life, throwing money around on a beach and children eagerly trying to get said money.
This culminates is a shot of a building with “Trump Gaza” emblazoned on the entrance in large white letters. Then there’s a scene in a public square with a giant golden statue of Trump, another with Musk, and it ends with an unflatteringly fat Trump wearing a speedo, sitting on a pool chair.
Reactions were predictable. “Trump looks pretty woke to me,” Yashar Ali quipped.
One user suggested the clip might even have been intended to trick Trump.
There was of course inevitable comparisons to Mike Judge’s 2006 satire “Idiocracy.”
And yes, people noticed how the AI-generated clip made the IRL noticeably tubby Musk look thin and fit while nevertheless accurately depicting Trump.
Some considered one obvious implication:
One user noted that the clip proves America still dominates at least one crucial modern industry.
And, of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t also note that a very large number of people pointed out that the video is also a horrifying glorification of what, if carried out, would meet several definitions of ethnic cleansing. But for our own sanity, we’ll keep our eyes for now on the mockery.
