‘Tron Legacy’ Director Kosinski to Produce ‘Archangels’

Ridley and Tony Scott will also produce Andrew Will’s sci-fi spec, which New Regency is developing

Hollywood newcomer Andrew Will's spec script "Archangels" is in development at New Regency and "Tron Legacy" director Joseph Kosinski has just come aboard to produce the sci-fi movie with Scott Free's Ridley and Tony Scott, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Kosinski's manager at Anonymous Content would not confirm Kosinski's involvement in the project, saying only "no comment," and TheWrap's calls to Kosinski's representation at Verve were not immediately returned.

The property is being development at New Line as a potential directing vehicle for Kosinski, who will surely be a wanted man in Hollywood if "Tron Legacy" lives up to the hype.

Set in the near future, "Archangels" is described as a "Bourne"-style thriller (FYI, I'm sick of the so-called "Bourne" style, but I digress …) crossed with extraterrestrial elements, as the protagonist is part of an elite force tasked with tracking aliens who get past Earth's defense system.

The defense system part intrigues me, but otherwise, how is this any different than the "Men in Black" franchise?

Will is also writing and directing animated online episodes in conjunction with BioWare's upcoming video game "Dragon Age." He garnered representation at CAA and Brillstein Enterteinment Partners on the strength of his 30-minute dramatic short titled "Homelanders."

Kosinski will be at Comic-Con next week to present "Tron Legacy" to the fanboy masses, as well as tease "Oblivion," a graphic novel based on his idea that Radical will publish this fall. He's also developing a remake of "The Black Hole."
