Trevor Noah Isn’t Surprised Oprah Didn’t Endorse Mehmet Oz: ‘At Some Point in Life, You Have to Kill the Monster You Create’ (Video)

“That’s always how it goes, people,” the “Daily Show” host joked

The midterm elections have arrived, and over in Pennsylvania, Mehmet Oz is running without the endorsement of the woman who made him famous: Oprah Winfrey. But really, that doesn’t surprise Trevor Noah. According to the “Daily Show” host, that’s just the circle of life.

Earlier this week, Oprah made it clear that she is very much on the side of John Fetterman in the Pennsylvania senate race, saying that if she lived there, “I would’ve already cast my vote for John Fetterman for many reasons.” The endorsement came as a shock to many, considering Winfrey effectively launched the career of Oz, having him on her show regularly as “Dr. Oz.” But for Noah, it wasn’t a shock at all.

“That’s always how it goes, people. At some point in life, you have to kill the monster you create,” Noah said. “Yeah, Dr. Frankenstein and his creature. Obi-Wan and Anakin. Parents and their kids!”

He continued, “Every parent knows the day will eventually come when you have to fight your children to the death to determine who control the remote control.”

Noah noted that Oprah’s endorsement “must’ve broken Oz’s heart” — but he’s also pretty sure that Oz has pills to solve that. Launching into a brief infomercial, Noah mocked Oz, encouraging audiences to buy fake dietary supplements for a broken heart.

“It’ll enhance your mood, and only turn your poop yellow some of the time,” Noah mocked. “Get it now, before the FDA outlaws it again.
